On April 4 1977, Southern Airways Flight 242 crashed into the community of New Hope Georgia, killing 72 people. To ensure that this tragedy is never forgotten and to educate those who do not know the events of this sad day, our committee is working to build a permanent memorial not far from the crash site. At present, there is only a Georgia historic marker (pictured). We want to forever honor the victims and those who came to help.
