In just under 1 year I will be graduating college with a Masters Degree in Architecture, and I NEED a break! I've decided that before I spread my wings and fly into the big, bad, scary grown-up world, I'm going to escape into the Appalachian Trail and spend 5-6 months thru-hiking the woods. This blog is dedicated to showing YOU, my awesome follower, how I'm preparing and training for my hike, and also what kind of gear I will be taking along for the ride. Another goal for this blog is to inspire other women out there to not be afraid of the trail. Women only make up about 20% of the thru-hikers of the AT, and that needs to change ladies. Unfortunately, society has brainwashed us into thinking that shopping, eating, and living alone are all safe, but hiking in the woods is not. WHAT?! Hiking the AT is in fact one of the safest things you can do as a solo female! If I can inspire at least one other women to take on the challenge of thru-hiking the AT even if no one can go with them, I'll be a happy camper!
