Barry Newman

Barry Newman is a graduate of Emory University and former president of Amertech Plastics, where he pioneered the use of numerical control machining in tool and die work as well the early adoption of robotics in manufacturing. His company was acquired by SL Industries (NYSE SLI) in 1985 and Barry subsequently began his medical training, graduating SUNY Downstate HSCB College of Medicine in 1997, where he earned his M.D. degree. He served his internship in Surgery and was House Officer in Anesthesiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Newman served as Chief Medical Officer of CareData® , one of the very first cloud-based EHR/PHR software solutions and has devoted much of his time to allied health medical education, serving as school director, Dean and COO of private, public and not for profit colleges in the Metro NY area. Barry envisioned the first program of study and certification designed to prepare the allied health workforce for the advent of ambulatory electronic medical records and, in collaboration with the National Healthcareer Association®, championed the national roll-out of this unique program at eleven Job Corps sites for the US DOL division of workforce development. Dr, Barry, as his students call him, is currently collaborating with another SME on TeleHealth curriculum design for the, "next big thing" in medicine. Barry is founder of Practice Transformation, Study4Careers and ToboRLabs, a firm he manages with Geoffrey Newman, his son and member of the BCI Team at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in the Biomedical Engineering graduate lab. Dr. Barry is currently serving as CMIO of Ideal TeleHealth LLC
