Locating and Entering LAX

One of the first things we want to know about LAX is where it is, and various routes we can use to get there.

Study the map above and memorize the following ways to enter the airport:
from the south on Sepulveda Blvd. (SR 1)

from the east on I-105 to Sepulveda Blvd. (SR 1)

from the east on Century Blvd.

from the northeast I-405 to W. Century Blvd.

from the north I-405 to Howard Hughes Pkwy. to Sepulveda Blvd. (SR 1)

from the northeast La Cienega Blvd. to La Tijera Blvd. to Airport Blvd. to W. 96th St.

from the northwest Lincoln Blvd. (SR 1) to Sepulveda Blvd. (SR 1)

The Limo Lot

The Limo Lot, as it is referred to in the limousine industry, is a parking lot designated specifically for limousines and other luxury vehicles. Every vehicle-for-hire must stop at the limo lot before proceeding to a terminal to pick up a passenger in order to pay an airport fee. (You do not need to stop at the limo lot if you are dropping off a passenger.) Once the airport fee has been paid, the chauffeur is issued a "trip ticket," which allows airport security to verify that the vehicle has paid their fee. If a vehicle is stopped by security in the passenger arrival area, they will check for your trip ticket. If a chauffeur does not have a trip ticket, LAX security will impose a fine.

The limo lot can also be used as a staging area if a chauffeur has arrived early for a pick up, or if a chauffeur simply chooses to wait at LAX for a call. Chauffeurs are not required to pay for a trip ticket unless they are headed to the main arrival and departure area of LAX, and it is common for chauffeurs to simply drive to the limo lot and wait between runs. Why is this? It is because LAX limousine pick-ups are extremely common , and chauffeurs who are waiting at LAX when they are available between runs are the ones who pick up most of these runs. The only requirement for waiting in the limo lot is the possession of something called a Waybill.
