Nicholas Fahrenkopf
Technical Lead - Silicon Photonics in Albany, New York
Nicholas Fahrenkopf is a Technical Lead for the AIM Photonics initiative at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. For the past four years he has worked as an Integration Engineer in the CMOS Derivatives group focused on silicon photonics, 3D integration, and FEOL CMOS. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Nanobiosciences.
Prior to working at SUNY Poly, Nick earned his BS in Physics and PhD in Nanoscale Engineering from the University at Albany. His dissertation research was on creating novel FET based DNA sensors using III-V, III-N, and silicon materials. He also has extensive experience in using nanofabrication processes and metrology techniques for biomedical applications.
Outside of work he serves as a Trustee for the Village of Altamont including as the Board Liaison to the Altamont Fire Department. He also volunteers helping the Ronald McDonald House of Albany with their annual Read for Ronald program that has raised over $250,000 in the past three years.
