My name is Nicholas Hedgpeth, more formally known as Nick. I am a junior, Business Administration Major with a Concentration in Management at North Carolina Central University. I am from the little city of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Upon my arrival at this illustrious institution, it has been my duty to excel in every form necessary, including: physically, emotionally, mentally and most importantly, academically. People call me popular, but I see myself more as a people person. I actually love to deal with people. Dealing with so many diversities isn't always the easiest thing in the world to do; however, it is something that helps a man see where his character is. Growing up in a neighborhood where a minority wasn't seen as the next ideal male role model, it hasn't always been my goal to be the best that I could be. In my eyes, as a child, his/her surroundings should build his/her mentality. A child's surroundings should make that child feel like there are more ways than one to make it out of a place other than sports, drug dealing or rapping. Unfortunately, children don't always get the option to choose to grow up in a positive environment. However, on the contrary, it is also fortunate that a child doesn't always get to choose, because some of the greatest role models come from the worst environments. You always have a choice.
