Niall is an entrepreneur, investor and technologist. He has built pioneering businesses in internet infrastructure, the mobile internet, web services and the internet of physical things in Europe, the US and Africa. Niall’s Kubu Ventures helps build innovative businesses. Named a World Economic Forum Global Innovator, Niall is a FastCompany world changing ideas award winner. Niall was founder & CEO of EVRYTHNG, pioneer of digital identity on the web and traceability for the world's consumer products, acquired by Digimarc Corporation in 2022. Niall co-founded pan-European WiFi operator The Cloud, acquired by News Corp’s BSkyB in 2010. In the mid 1990s he co-founded scenario thinking consultancy The Digital Thinking Network, and one of the first internet service providers in Southern Africa with US telco Sprint. Niall is a strategic advisor to blockchain network IOTA and American Eagle’s ecommerce logistics service provider Quiet Platforms. He serves on the advisory boards of space-based data centre startup Lonestar and on-demand manufacturer DXM. Private investments include impact analytics provider Vera Solutions and vertical farmer OneFarm. Niall hosts the podcast Living In The Future. He is a past member of UK telecom regulator Ofcom’s spectrum advisory board. Niall has presented around the world, including at TED. His patents and inventions include originating the upgrade to global barcode standard giving every product a web address, standardised by GS1. A computer scientist by training, Niall was born in Ireland and grew-up in South Africa. He is a passionate mountaineer, and member of the Explorers Club. Niall lives near Geneva and is married with three children.
