Nicholas Moore
Knoxville, TN
Nicholas Randall Moore is a junior majoring in Kinesiology in the college of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at the University of Tennessee. He has completed over 20 hours of strong sciences including a five hour Physiology course. Mr. Moore has always been intrigued by prosthetic physical therapy and the science of this growing field. After graduation he plans to enroll in a Doctorate Physical Therapy program.
While observing at Siskin Rehabilitation Center in Chattanooga, TN Mr. Moore meet a patient that he will never forget. The patient worked long hours in an industrial factory until he suffered from a form of spinal hemorrhaging that severely reduced his mobility. Every morning he would go to physical therapy. He always cursed and complained, but everyday he got a little better; he sat-up a little longer and clinched his fists a little tighter. The patient said that although he complained, he had never been treated so well by a therapist and wouldn't trade it for anything.
This type of hope and healing seen in patients is one of the many reasons that Mr. Moore is pursuing a career in physical therapy. He hopes that with the knowledge of a physical therapist he can give back to his patients and give them encouragement and hope when they need it most.
At the University of Tennessee, Mr. Moore enjoys pursuing his studies, attending football games, and spending time with friends. He also enjoys hiking, swimming, climbing, and mountain biking. The background is a photo from one of Mr. Moore's many hiking trips.
In the near future, Mr. Moore hopes to pursue a degree in physical therapy and strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
