Screenwriting & Narrative Design, School of Performing Arts

Digital production and distribution has revolutionized entertainment media, creating extraordinary opportunities even as whole industries face new challenges in capturing the attention of an audience. Screenwriting & Narrative Design challenges students to work individually and collaboratively to conceptualize, create, pitch, and develop original IP, considering strategies in marketing and monetization as they establish their own studios. Linear, non-linear, branching, sandbox, environmental, augmented reality, and participatory narratives are explored, taking into consideration traditional narrative elements of character, dialogue, scene, setting, texture, tone and style. Students master the subtle variances of language employed through structured and open-world storytelling as they create memorable stories and scripts for film, television, video game and interactive media.

Game Design, School of Design

Unique to the industry, George Brown College's programs in Game Design, Game Development, and Game Programming act as a virtual studio collaborating with external clients including Sony Music Canada, ToonBox, and Starz, and as an incubator and accelerator for studios including Neon Mountain and 13am Games.
