Nicholas Stracke

Student in Athens

Hello, all! My name is Nicholas Stracke. I have a passion for baking, and I like to write sometimes in my spare time. I've performed a written word piece at a festival in Atlanta, and I compete in my family's pie contest every year during Thanksgiving! My favorite pies to bake are pecan and banana cream. I'm a history major here at UGA with aspirations of joining the foreign service. My great uncle served as a diplomat to India and Saudi Arabia during his career, and his fascinating work has inspired me to follow in his footsteps. If I change my mind, or if that doesn't work out, I would love to be a history teacher somewhere. The pay isn't thrilling, but I love to talk about history! When I'm not baking or writing, I'm here in Athens working on schoolwork or playing games. My friends and I love to play board games and card games. We've formed a surprisingly large group! We play loads of games, from Diplomacy to Magic the Gathering. During the summers I work as a Lifeguard at my local pool. I thought it would be a relaxing way to spend my summers saving, but it has been surprisingly stressful! I've had a customer threaten to assault me, who I had to call the police on. Another time, a customer pulled a gun on another customer. We had to call the police again, of course. I never would have though a neighborhood pool could be so dangerous!

Thanks for reading my bio. Nice to meet you!
