I suppose the easiest thing to know about me is that I work too much. I spend
about 12 hours a day in the office working for a bank, I eat all my meals at
work; breakfast at 8, usually cereal, lunch about 2 from the little Tesco
opposite, and then dinner will be a ready meal or soup about 7 before leaving
about half 8 to take the short walk back to my top floor flat around the corner
from Boscombe pier. It's true to say that when I'm not in the office I'll be
either on the way there or on the way back... or asleep. Sadly that's pretty
accurate... no really!
I grew up in the country with my younger brother. Pretty privileged life
really, school, friends, and weekend working in the local shop, with holidays
once or twice a year; middle class holidays, not Tenerife; Skiing or Venice
that sort of thing. Age 17 I got top grades at A level but never really fancied
sitting in front of a computer every day; ... so 5 years ago I left the village
and lived with various friends in actual towns with more than just a pub, a
shop and a dairy farm, which was when I uploaded my pretty pathetic CV to an
online agency... 2 weeks later I got the job at the bank, yeah I know right, not
only am I not using any of my qualifications but it's a job in front of
computers; I should have realised that this was where I would slide into a
state of comfort, yet claustrophobia where the money was good so you didn't
really want to leave, but you would never really get anywhere, I was trapped
within the confines of fear to jump ship. Age 19 I earned good money taking
home just over 40k, by working all the hours I could, this continued and I had no life, I was ruled by money and material possessions, spending weekends in PC world or Curry's looking for a bigger better tele. This isn't what they tell you about in school.
