Nick Caputo
Nurse in Denver Metro Area
Hi, I'm Nick and I am looking to make a difference in the world. I love anything to do with science and medicine. I am a very versatile person, I have a Master's degree that has allowed me to develop the skills necessary to solve problems easily and apply knowledge from one area to a new area with no problems. I can see the big picture as well as the small to get around any obstacle that may come along. I spent 5 years as the head of research for small labs studying diabetes and cancer. My main role in these projects was synthesizing all the different avenues of research into one main and focused narrative that will allow for optimal research. I wore many hate, including project leadership, research design, lab management, data collection/analysis, and mentorship.
I the decided to change things up and moved to the opposite side of disease by becoming a registered nurse. I attended Linfield College in Portland, OR for their accelerated BSN program, graduating in August 2017. I worked at OHSU in Portland, OR as a progressive care nurse in a medical specialties floor where I took care of virtually any condition. I also worked as a charge nurse there where I was able to take more of a leadership role in the higher level activities of the unit. I spent a little while as a nurse traveler in Longview, WA during the Covid-19 pandemic working crisis relief. I now work for Intermountain Healthcare (formerly SCL Health) as a regional float pool nurse for cardiac, intermediate care and critical care floors at 4 different hospitals (that is 12 different floors among the different hospitals). I'm looking for more leadership opportunities and I'm thinking I would love to get some more training in emergency nursing to add to my resume. I'm not sure what my professional future looks like. As I learn and grow while working in the hospital I try to keep an open mind as to what my future looks like.
I am an avid cook and I enjoy making beer as well. I am also a self taught bike mechanic, a major baseball fan, and an outdoor enthusiast. I feel that my hobbies sharpen my professional abilities, and vice versa. I am always open to pushing myself to the limit and trying new things that I may not yet know about, so I can expand my range of knowledge and grow as a complete person.
