Nick Purkis

I am a qualified nurse in the UK and worked with neurological patients for many years as a ward manager. I decided to go into teaching and worked with medical students for 5 years at Southampton general hospital, before moving into my current post in Febrauary 2010.

I am a programme leader and senior lecturer at winchester University and have responsibility for 2 programmes:

The BSc (Hons) Health and social care Practice and the BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (top-up). The top-ip programme is in response to changes in nurse education whereby from 2013 all nurse training wil be degree level.

I live in the New Forest with my wife and two kids. Jamie is 19 and studying a Masters in Chemistry at Southampton University where he is in his 2nd year. sam is 16 and studying Maths and physics A levels at Brockenhurst College. Annette is an cOccupational Therapist, and Lead therapist at Southampton General Hospital.

I like cars, chess, running and enjoy fine ales.
