Five years ago, as a history book seller, I realised that there was a problem in the way people accessed history. Many readers were fascinated by the past, but felt overwhelmed by vast 500 page books. As a history teacher and journalist, I had the knowledge and passion to start writing a full history of the 20th Century in ebook form, allowing readers short on time to access a deep and detailed understanding of a particular event. So far in my Explaining History series (www.explaininghistory.com) Soviet Russia, Hitler's destruction of the Treaty of Versailles and Japan's war in Asia have been explored, and in 2013 new titles on India, the Middle East and the Second World War are scheduled. I have created teaching and learning materials for schools and act as a historical consultant to educational resource providers and TV production companies. I have written for the Guardian newspaper on the subject of history teaching and have also written for George Mason University's History News Network. I am available for magazine and online features writing on history, education and current affairs and also for consultancy work. I am currently developing the Explaining History series for audio book and app as wewll as Kindle, and am interested in hearing from anyone looking for related content for their sites or ebooks/downloads for their mailing lists.
