Nick Slamp

Hi, my name is Nick Slamp and I enjoy lots of things. Things like going to the beach, going out on boats, going fishing, and hanging with my friends always catch my attention. However, while I do enjoy all those things, they do not reveal who I am as a person. For the majority of my life I have always been interested in how things work. Naturally I have caught interest in how motors work and how certain things are built. This specific interest started my freshman year when all I wanted was a boat. I talked to my Dad about buying one but he wouldn't budge, until I suggested building one. Before I knew it my Dad and I had began and then completed the construction of our seventeen foot boat. This project formed the foundation for my current interests. It also got my my current summer job which is working at a boat repair shop where I have worked for two years now. All the time I spend around boats and being from Massachusetts I have formed a love of the ocean which has helped me decide what I’d like to do after college in terms of living. My current plan while subject to change is to go to school here, get a degree in either business or mechanical engineering, then return to Massachusetts and work in Boston. There are many things that form my interests but that one project is a large piece to it.
