Nicky Grodecki

I am currently a student at New College Pontefract, studying Law, Criminology and Business. These subjects have developed my understanding of the legal system, criminal justice, business operations, communication and professional conduct. Before attending New College Pontefract, I studied at St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School & Sixth Form in Featherstone.

I have gained valuable practical experience through work experience at Leeds Magistrates’ Court, where I gained an insight into how a professional court operates and how different people and departments contribute to the legal process. This experience strengthened my interest in law and criminology while developing my understanding of professionalism, communication, organisation and courtroom procedures.

I have also gained experience at OUZ Barbershop, developing skills in customer service, teamwork, organisation and maintaining a professional environment. Alongside this, I have experience in digital marketing and social media management. I manage a private TikTok account with over 30,000 followers, giving me practical experience in content creation, audience engagement, social media strategy and building an online presence while keeping the account separate from my personal identity.

Sport has been a major part of my development. In basketball, I have played as a starting Point Guard for my college team, averaging around 20 points per game. I have also attended trials with Leeds Basketball Association, where I performed strongly and gained experience competing at a higher level. This was an important achievement and reflected my experience and ability within basketball.

I have also played football for several teams, including Castleford Town, Pontefract Collieries, Hemsworth Miners, Hutnik Kraków and Perła Płonica. Throughout my football experience, I have played in a number of positions, including midfielder, fullback, winger and striker. Playing different positions has developed my adaptability, tactical understanding, communication and ability to contribute in different roles within a team.

Outside of education and sport, I have a strong interest in music and work as a music producer within the underground rap scene. I produce music under a hidden professional name and maintain a separate identity within the scene. I have worked with artists including KLLHHR, gaining experience in music production, collaboration, networking and the creative process. This has also strengthened my technical skills and understanding of how independent artists and producers build their presence within the modern music industry.
