Niclas Castello
" My work is really a celebration of the female form. I like visible sexiness. I like tits and ass "
Niclas Castello was born July 21st, 1978 as the son of a working class family in the former GDR.
After the German reunification his parents started a business in car retail. Niclas Castello trained to become a car mechanic and graduated after only two years. One year later he received his master diploma with special distinction. During this time he got more and more fascinated by the world of arts and, inspired by the Paris fashion shows, he showed his first collection “catwalk” in 1998 which was exhibited in a small Amsterdam gallery. Against the tradition of his family he devoted himself to art addicted by the works of Dali, Warhol and Lichtenstein. In 2001 he spent most of his time in Paris to get inspired by the Monte Madre artists and continued his work.
In 2002 he returned to Germany to continue his private study of arts. Consequently he left for New York City where he lived with the famous artist Arleen Schloss. There he discovered his passion for sculptures made of consumer materials. After his return to Germany and driven by his will to reach perfection, he was fascinated by car wrecks which he turned into sculptures.
In this period he created his first series “Point of view” where he started to process different moments of his life. In all of his works one can recognise Castello's exposure to femininity and sexual attraction. He wants to transport a message of beauty andevanescence.
In 2005 he started to work on his second series "The true happiness" where Castello wanted to critisize the mild punishment of rippers.
Starting from year 2007 he has put all his efforts into the latest series "Forbidden" about grace and attraction. Castello wants to express the increased desire of forbidden acts.
