Nicola Voso
Roma, Italia
I was born in Rome on 21 December 1968.
I went to high school and then I joined engineering. I work in the IT world from more than 20 years and still not got tired to keep constantly updated on new technologies. I wrote my first line of BASIC code on the legendary Commodore Vic 20. Now I'm using a wonderful Microsoft Surface pro 2. Tempus fugit...
In 1995 a Borland engineer created Delphi, and later he became the father of the framework .Net. With Delphi (and subsequent versions up to 6.0) I created many Windows desktop applications, one of which (born in 1996) still runs today (2015) in a sports shop, on an IBM Pentium PC, running Windows NT Workstation 4.0!
Since 2006 I have imposed a radical change in my Office, by convincing the sceptics to invest in ASP.NET and more generally in Microsoft technologies. Productivity increased and the costs, both maintenance and investment, have fallen dramatically.
In 2007 began the Sharepoint era, love and hate for every developer/system administrator, which continues now with the 2013 version. In November 2010, as I followed WPC sessions Days in Milan, Microsoft introduced a new Smartphone: Windows Phone. Love at first sight. In December I had already downloaded the Express Edition of Visual Studio for Windows Phone, and in January I got a beautiful Samsung Omnia 7, and then I posted my first App: Prima Pagina. It wasn't a big success, indeed...Then one day, to make a joke to my wife, who had the iPhone 3Gs, I created a little App that simulates the iOs UI on the Windows Phone. After 5 days iFun was in the top 10 most downloaded apps!
Now most of my programming efforts are aimed at creating apps, most of which are inspired by my children
The mother of a friend of my youngest son (third grade), approaches me and tells me: "my daughter told me that you do the best job in the world: you develop apps for smartphones!"
