Nicole Breit
Writer and Editor in Vancouver, Canada
Nicole earned her B.A. in English (with distinction) from the University of Victoria and her B.Ed. from the University of British Columbia in the 1990s.
Passionate about literacy development, literature and fine arts, she taught at the elementary level for several years before taking a position at Simon Fraser University. At that time she began coursework toward completion of her Certificate in Editing from SFU's Writing & Publishing program.
She started editing for clients on a freelance basis and in 2012 launched her own writing and editing company.
Nicole has worked as the Food & Health Editor for Thrifty & Green magazine and the Editor for Mom Inc Movement. In each of these roles she managed a team of writers, wrote original content and edited submissions from contributors.
A published essayist and poet, she has been nominated for a number of awards including the 2016 Malahat Review Open Season Awards, the 2015 Room poetry competition and the 2015 PRISM International Creative Non-Fiction contest.
Her debut poetry collection, I Can Make Life, was a finalist for the 2012 Mary Ballard poetry competition.
