Nicole Best

Los Angeles

My name is Nicole Best and I am a December 2013 graduate from San Diego State University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and an emphasis in public relations. I have actively remained on the Dean’s List and served as an executive board member for Alpha Chi Omega.

I am extremely organized, consistently staying up to date with industry-wide trends and have very strong verbal and communication skills.

1. As a summer 2013 fashion editorial intern for the beauty, fashion and lifestyle public relations firm, Bollare, I learned valuable skills in writing for fashion, pitching to appropriate media outlets and staying up to date with industry wide trends. Some highlights of my internship include:
• Assisted with an E! Entertainment segment filming one of the firm’s clients, the Canadian denim brand, Triarchy.
• Assisted with the filming of an Extra segment at The Grove with our Mikoh swimwear client, designer Kalani Miller.
• Helped aid with and plan an event for the Madison Men’s Shop store opening in West Hollywood, which garnered more than 250 attendees.

2. The summer before that was spent studying abroad in London, where I was able to visualize how fashion and entertainment differ compared to how we perceive it in the U.S. I immersed myself in the city’s eclectic culture through a program that analyzed the differences in lifestyle, media and art forms in the U.K. to those in the U.S. and was able to hone my writing skills by contributing to a weekly class blog detailing the experience.

3. I then spent my last semester interning for SpearHall, a boutique advertising and PR agency, while also writing for the entertainment media company Brightside Network Media. I wrote an opinion editorial section called, “The Weekly Dose.” Posts revolved around relevant “twenty-something” generalities and commonalities. 4. Coupled with my extensive knowledge of the social media outlets and social media strategies for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, with specific boards relating to relevant fashion trends, I am qualified to navigate the digital realm.

5. I was a sales associate at Tommy Bahama for a year, September 2012 to May 2013. I am very passionate about working in the fashion industry and am a hard worker. I will stop at nothing short to suceed.
