Nidia Garcia-Erceg

Known for her passion for community organizing, Nidia Garcia often rallies individuals together to become involved in community improvement efforts. A native of El Salvador, she began her career in the same neighborhood she first immigrated to in Boyle Heights.

She became an advocate of the Los Angeles River. She organized community meetings for teachers and students around the topics of conservation, leadership and hands on experiential learning for Friends of Los Angeles River.

She later served as a Political Liaison and Director of Community Outreach for North East Trees. During this time, she also organized youth and community stewardship programs and co- produced events that brought hundreds of stakeholders from Los Angeles to participate in revitalization efforts.

Nidia has continued to serve her community on several advisory boards, including the Urban Ecosystems focusing on resources and creation of open space in minority communities and the Green L.A. Coalition Water Group that provides education about water resources while making policy recommendations to regulators.

Nidia was appointed by the office of Councilmember Ed Reyes District 1 to serve as a representative on the Bicycle Advisor Committee where she put her training as an Urban Planner to work facilitating the creation of transit corridors and efficient commuter bike trails in the City of Los Angeles.

Through out the years her work has made a lasting impact on the communities she serves often-aligning resources and relationships that will last a lifetime while empowering those she has trained.

Currently, Ms. Garcia is running her own consulting group, City Vida Consulting, providing support to the greater LA Community on issues related to urban planning, resource conservation, sustainable communities and environmental education.
