Nigel Morgan

My name is Nigel Morgan. I am a 66 year old Pensioner, living in the United Kingdom. Married for the second time with a son , daughter & four grandchildren – three boys and a girl. I also have a stepson and daughter as well as a step granddaughter. I live in my own detached house with my wife in Cockermouth a small market town in the Lake District. Fortunately near the top of the hill & I was not therefore directly affected last year’s devastating floods. I absolutely love being a grandfather (Probably much better at it than I was a dad). I truly believe if you really want to do something you can – if you put in the time and effort! This is a message I am determined to pass on (I was well into later life when I got this message) to my grandchildren. Don’t worry about what your peers, family and friends say – if you want it enough go for it. I am planning to spend about 20% of my time, whilst I am fit and able, in the Midlands, especially whilst the grandchildren are growing up so as I can play an active part in their education since I believe I have a great deal to offer. Additionally, my wife and I are undergoing evaluation and training to become “foster parents”. I know I was extremely lucky being born when I was and although my parents were not particularly well off, I consider myself to have had a privileged life. I passed my 11+ went to a Grammar School and studied “mineral technology” at the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College. My first gainful employment was on a gold mine in South Africa – it took the best part of 36 hours to get there by plane in those days! After that I spent 30+years in Sales & Marketing within the bulk chemical industry, travelling to some 45 countries. In that time I never once went back on a quotation or promise, I know it sounds trite but My Word is MY Bond. Oh! by the way I tend to call a “spade a spade”. I will always tell it I see it, since I believe it is better to be honest and up front. I was fortunate enough to be able to take “early retirement” on my 52nd birthday. Initially I set up as a “consultant” within the chemical industry, however the cost of travelling as well as time away from home being based in the Lake District led me to a rethink. After voluntary work with the NSPCC & Victim Support which I did for several years I became bored and after much consideration I decided to set up my OWN Internet Business. I have to say a lot of my relatives and close friends poured scorn on this idea.
