Night Owl Proofing

I have previously worked as a proofreader and compositor for a local newspaper, and after some years working as a project coordinator I am returning to my passion: Books and Writing.

I am a freelance proofreader and copy editor, with excellent English and a gift for grammar.

I also like writing, and books, and blogs. And language. And reading books. I write a blog with book reviews amongst other things. And I like to chat about grammar and spelling (more like mis-spelling!) and talk about books.

Did I mention I have a passion for Books?

So if you are a writer about to publish the next Best Seller... or even a student who needs papers checked... then contact me.

Good morning… good evening…

I guess that depends on where you are when you read this.
I’m getting used to the time differences and I’m not even talking about from one side of the world to the other! Time is truly a relative thing and I will often feel wide awake until midnight with no trouble… go figure. Hence the name Night Owl.

Apparently I always was a Night Owl – not just as a teenager – but as a small child too.

Of course, my erratic sleep patterns is of benefit when I converse with the opposite side of the world… whether an urgent txt from Scotland from an unwell daughter who needs a cyber-hug, or an update from another daughter who was travelling through the States and Canada, then through Europe, with real time zone differences all of her own!

The hours I keep are also rather handy when it comes to my proof-reading business. I can work all hours so can be available when others (including the client) really want to sleep! Whether you’re sitting down to supper and a night cap, or getting up to fresh coffee, or perhaps it’s English Breakfast Tea? I will be settling down to work on a manuscript that someone, somewhere wants to get published.

In the Land of the Long White Cloud – or the long days, long nights, and long black coffee – New Zealand is a wonderful place to live, sometimes its great to be so far away, sometimes hard to be so far away… but of course – I’m only an email away thanks to the wonders of the electronic age.

My modern-day heroes of Skype, email and cyber clouds mean I really am only a moment away.
