Nihal Parashar

Nihal Parashar is a Mumbai-based writer working across literature, screenwriting, theatre, and audio storytelling. He is the author of the short story collection Patna Ka Superhero (April 2024), which has featured consistently on Amazon bestseller charts across multiple categories, and the debut novel Left Right Left. His writing is rooted in contemporary Indian life and often explores politics, media, memory, and everyday human contradictions.
In theatre, Nihal has written and directed the stage adaptation of Patna Ka Superhero, which premiered at Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai, in August 2022. His second play is “Department of Joke”, which opened in August 2025.
His screenwriting work includes the web series Shiksha Mandal (Amazon-MX Player, 2022) and earlier writing credits on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge (Star Plus, 2017).
He is the co-author of Amritsar: A Year in a Timeless City (2019), a narrative chronicle of the city’s cultural and historical life.
Alongside his writing practice, Nihal conducts creative writing modules and workshops, and curates writing residencies aimed at building sustained creative communities. He also practices street photography, documenting everyday life as a parallel form of storytelling.
