When I am on a motorbike, I flow between heightened awareness and peaceful meditation. On the bike, I have to be completely in the moment. Constantly scanning the road for potholes or debris. Estimating and anticipating the path of every vehicle, human, and animal. This alertness, for me, is also a state of being completely relaxed.

Inside a helmet, the sound of the bike engine and the wind is a soft hum. No sound or sight is too prominent. I focus on my breathing and there will be times when absolutely nothing gets registered. Some part of the subconsciousness takes over and I am observing without inference, without getting wrapped in the situation.

My mind is clear.

It is me, my motorcycle, and the road.

It is both sublime and beautiful!
