Nikki Scott got her start in the wine industry when she discovered the wines of the Finger Lakes while studying Textile and Apparel Design at Cornell University. She quickly realized she preferred the laid back, epicurean lifestyle of an oenophile to the cut-throat fashion industry and moved to the Napa Valley after graduation to work at a winery. She has since worked in tasting rooms, retail shops, and wine bars throughout the Bay Area and obtained certification at the advanced level through the Wine and Spirits Education Trust. In August 2011 , Nikki co-founded and managed The Barrel Room, a wine bar in San Francisco specializing in small-production wines from throughout the world. She recently worked as buyer at Paul Marcus Wines in Oakland, and as a writer and editor for a hospitality consulting company, in addition to doing independent work as a wine writer, consultant, and educator. Nikki is currently a WSET Diploma candidate, and is expected to complete the program in 2015.
