About Nina:

Author and editor Nina Planchard Flournoy has been a national reporter, editor, and contributor for newspapers and magazines, including Women’s Wear Daily, W, Money, D Magazine, American Way, the Dallas Morning News, Texas Business, Countryside and the New Orleans Times Picayune. She has been recognized by Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and by the Dallas Press Association for excellence in feature writing. She received the Junior League of Dallas Community Service Award for investigative reporting.

Flournoy is a former award-winning Communication Studies professor at Southern Methodist University, where she was a long-time director of the SMU-in-London program. She earned an undergraduate degree in Creative Writing and Journalism from Louisiana State University and a Masters of Liberal Studies degree at SMU.

She recently published “The Lions Among Us: Celebrating 80 Years of The Dallas Petroleum Club.” The book tells the story of the risk-taking oil tycoons who sparked the East Texas oil boom of the 1930s, and how they formed an oil fraternity in Dallas that helped build the city, while impacting the nation and the global oil business.

A Louisiana native who adopted Texas, Nina and her husband, Craig Flournoy, have three daughters Helene, Louise, and Emma, and two dogs.
