Trained under the tutelage of Smt. Lalitha Sivakumar (the illustrious DKP lineage), Niranjana has a Doctorate in Music from the University of Madras. Her thesis is on "Gaulantya Ragas with special reference to Nilothpalambal vibhakti kritis of Muddusvami Dikshitar".

With her melliflous voice and clear diction, Niranjana has enthralled rasikas all over India and abroad. She has won several awards and prizes in various sabha competitions and is a graded artist of the All India Radio, Chennai.

Working as Assistant Professor, Department of Vocal for Tamilnadu Music and Fine Arts University since 2016.

Recipient of the YUVA KALA BHARATI award from the Bharat Kalachar for the year 2015 and many more awards includes best concert and best vocalists prizes from Sabhas during the music festival s, bagged 6 tambura prizes from various sabhas of chennai.
