Nir Hus MD
For the past 15 years, Dr. Nir Hus has been immersed in the study and practice of a wide range of disciplines, with notable achievements in the areas of biochemistry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. A well-regarded surgeon and researcher, Nir Hus, Ph.D., recently spent a year completing a critical care fellowship at the Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, learning the finer points of trauma and critical care surgery. Prior to his fellowship, he fulfilled a residency in general surgery through the Mount Sinai Medical Center & Miami Heart Institute in Miami Beach, where he cultivated a high degree of clinical expertise. Aside from his duties at Mount Sinai, he managed various research projects at this time, earning a U.S. Provisional Patent for developing “Non invasive billiary tree fluoroscopy in real time in vivo.” In addition, he earned publication in the November 2008 edition of the Journal of Biological Chemistry for his article, “Challenging current paradigms related to cardiomyopathies,” among other accomplishments.
Formerly a student in the combined M.D./Ph.D. program at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Nir Hus received both degrees in 2005, successfully defending his dissertation: 1) YhbO and YajL proteases or chaperones, two novel members of the U46 family of bacterial peptidases; and 2) PenP, a novel member of the Small Multidrug Resistant family of proteins. While pursuing his doctorate, Dr. Nir Hus completed research on topics such as cervical cancer, U46 putative bacterial proteases, breast and gynecologic tumors, and more. He earned publication in Gynecological Oncology and a U.S. patent for Xcisor, a DNA extraction tool from gels.
An entrepreneur, Nir Hus, Ph.D., co-founded Advanced Technologies Consulting Group, Inc., which provided medical records management, IT design and implementation, and other services to the health care sector, from 1996 through 2006. Graduating from the University of Miami in 1995, Dr. Nir Hus received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Marine Science.
