Nives Wetzel de Cediel
Artist, Dance Educator, Researcher in Berkeley, California
Old enough to know what I am good at and experienced enough to know what's important. I'm currently working on new choreography, completing unfinished art pieces and doing background research on a year-long curriculum to train K-12 teachers on how to incorporate visual and performing arts in their classrooms. I teach AfroBrazilian dance at the high school level and educational pedagogy and arts integration at the graduate level. Any work that requires research and/or travel to acquire knowledge or skills is my ideal.
I seek environments that value radical inclusivity, creative expression, respect and reciprocity. Jobs, projects, programs, happenings and events may be one in the same or completety separate activities. Variety and newness keep me sharp. I want to work with people to pool talent and skill for the greater good; people who are divergent in their thinking, confident in their skill and deeply kind. I can't work in isolation, at least not most of the time.
