Born and raised in New York City metro area. I spent my childhood going to broadway shows with my mom, who always believed that music should be part of every child's life. She sang opera and graduated from New York University--put herself through school because her parents didn't think it was important for a woman to go to school. She went on to become the assistant to the dean at NYU, so I guess her parents were wrong!
I spent a lot of my time in high school hanging out with friends who were into music as I was. We did everything we could to buy tickets to every concert we could get to in high school. Highlights were: The Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1965 (paid $5.50 for the highest price ticket! Still have the ticket stub); the Bee Gees in Central park, 1972; Cat Stevens at Madison Square Garden in 1974; Chicago, 1975, just to name a few highlights. And of course, Bruce Springsteen at every local gig in New Jersey we could find him at...mostly the Stone Pony, and other small places outside Philadelphia.
I am happy to say that I have never outgrown my love of music and still go to concerts every chance I get though not as much as I'd like to.
