Nkanyiso Thusi

Student and Volunteer in University of Johannesburg.

I am a Bachelor of Education (SP/FET) student at the University of Johannesburg, majoring in Geography, Natural Sciences and Physical Education. I believe that learners learn best through social interaction, where they develop the 4Cs of the 21st century: communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity. My teaching philosophy is inspired by Benjamin Franklin's words: "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn." I aim to create learner-centred classrooms where I guide and support learners through collaborative teaching strategies. I have been recognised as one of the top 10 Geography students at the University of Johannesburg and participate in the CALTSTEAM Research Centre. I am interested in educational technology, volunteering and running. As a volunteer in the University of Johannesburg Community Engagement programme, I am passionate about making a positive difference through education.
