Nkechi Melva Uguru is a legal practitioner, mentor, social entrepreneur and businessperson with an excellent logistics skills and finance experience in enterprise development processes that aid to deliver on organization’ strategies in the most efficient manner and effective utilization of resources to achieve the organization’ objectives and policies. She is innovative and passionate about advocacy and the empowerment of young people thus She founded Kachem Young Initiative (KYI).Through her organisation, KYI, she advocates and promote entrepreneurial education, inclusion and access in the education sector in Africa, and mitigates the odds against literacy and minority rights.Melva is also the Ebonyi State Lead for Connected Development (CODE)/Follow The Money (FTM), an organisation with the mandate to ensure rule of law, transparency and accountability in government expenditures.Melva holds an LL.B. from the University of Abuja, Nigeria, and attended the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja. She interned at the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Justice, Abuja, and has worked as a research assistant with the Akwaibom State judiciary, Akaraiwe & Associates (Lex Rehoboth Partners), Enugu. Currently, she works with Ogodo, Ogodo & Co Legal Associates and Notary Public (Beracah Chambers), Abakaliki, and volunteers on the Board of Trustees of the Izhi Tehu Foundation, an organisation that advocate peace among Izhii communities in Ebonyi state, Nigeria.She is recognized as a Young African Leader, an active member of the YALI Network Nigeria and the inaugural Chairman of the Independent Electoral Committee of YALI Network Ebonyi State in 2019, and most recently a 2021 Mandela Washington Fellowship finalist and a World Literacy Ambassador.You can reach Melva at [email protected].
