When not grappling with questions aboutlife and a higher sense of being or looking for new adventures, I help build a global network of leading social entrepreneurs and young changemakers; I am a ChangeManager at Ashoka Arab World organization, the largest professional globalnetwork of social entrepreneurs.
I have pursued my passion for the socialservice sector since high school despite the absence of a formal educationalpath for this work in the Egyptian university system. In 2011 I earned aBachelor of Dental Sciences, but behind the scenes I continued to do communitydevelopment work. During university, I co-founded and led the Ain ShamsUniversity chapter for the international organization Enactus, formerly knownas SIFE, to respond positively to local community challenges with a freeenterprise, self-organizing mindset.
Witnessing first hand, bottom-top changehappening on a mass scale during the 2011 Egyptian revolution, I felt theurgent need to permanently shift career paths and devote my full self toenacting social change in Egypt. My experience and skills includeorganizational management, strategic planning, project design and systemschange strategies. I have worked across different fields of the social sector likeincome generation, youth empowerment, education and inter-cultural dialoguefacilitation.
For my activism, I have represented Arabyouth in several occasions across the Arab world, Asia and Europe and waschosen for an honorary position as the Egypt Youth Ambassador by the ArabThought Foundation for the years 2013 and 2014.
In 2013, as part of my never-ending journeyof self-discovery and development, I started studying a degree in Liberal Arts atthe Cairo Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CILAS). Where I inter-minglewith a diverse community of students and teaching fellow peers and engage incritical thinking and a discussion-based framework of learning where I feellike an active participant in the co-creation of knowledge. Through CILAS, Icontribute to finding alternative models for the re-invention of highereducation in Egypt.
CILAS is a step in my journey ofself-discovery and development of a mindset that enables me to meaningfullycontribute to the change needed in my community. I am passionate abouteducation, identities and diversity issues.
Whether I am spending time in a bustlingmarket, engaging with Egypt’s art scene or self-reflecting in a quiet garden, Iam nourished by societies and individu
