Hello All!

I am a native Southern California girl with a passion for life, learning, computers and photography.

I am a firm believer that one should NEVER stop learning! I make it a priority to learn at least one new thing every day. I enjoy researching things (especially online), reading books (even textbooks!) and otherwise furthering my conquest of knowledge. I love knowing and understanding how things work. I love being able to recognize obscure references in the media and within my social circle, even if I'm the only one who gets them!

I am currently working on my A.S. in Computer Information Sciences and I'm only a few classes from graduating! However, as it is wont to do, life has gone and thrown a monkey wrench into my happiness, causing me to have to put my formal education on the back burner for a little while. In the meantime, I am continuing my informal education on the internet, using sites like edx.org, coursera.org, MIT Open CourseWare and Codecademy.

I've always been interested in photography (and, by extension, Photoshop), but my passion for it only truly developed about 8 or 9 years ago. At the time, my father (a lifelong avid photo-bug himself) was diagnosed with cancer. The treatments made it to where he could not go out and take pictures, rather, he was confined to his bed and suffered from a great deal of boredom. So he enlisted me to get up at 5 am, go out and photograph the surrounding desert, just as the sun came up and bring him back the results. He would then give me pointers on what I should do next time. (I even took notes!) Then it was on to photo editing. But there were some facets of Photoshop that he didn't understand. Being the internet and computer savvy daughter that I am, I learned Photoshop... without actually using the program! It took a great deal of reading and a lot of time spent with him experimenting, but at last, it worked the way he wanted it to. This story has no sad ending... Dad is still kicking... he beat the cancer and is living happily in Oregon!
