Soccer is a global sport that brings joy to billions worldwide, including myself. Since I can remember, my life has revolved around soccer. My obsession with the sport started when I was three years old. I would go to my older sister’s church league games, and painfully watch from the sideline, itching to wear my own jersey and play for a team. When I was finally able to play, I dedicated all my time to improving my skills, for no other reason but the pure enjoyment associated with the sport. Soccer has given me the ability to be a better man on and off the field. I have gained leadership skills, communication skills, and the ability to adapt and learn from my mistakes. Through the many ups and downs endured throughout my childhood, soccer was always there for me. If I was ever having a bad day, I knew I could rely on the pair of cleats and ball waiting for me at home. From national tournaments in Disney World to winning back to back high school state championships and giving me lifelong friends and memories that I will cherish forever, soccer has taken me on a journey that I wouldn’t trade for the world. Soccer made me who I am today, and for that I am eternally grateful.
