Noel Jones

Englewood, TN USA

Noel Jones started out as a church organist and choir director, then became an opera coach and musical director in the US, Germany and Italy. Returning to his roots in church music he has designed hundreds of church organs while working with digital and pipe organs.

Connected to musicians around the world, he’s quick to ferret out information that is needed and share his ideas and solutions with musicians performing traditional and MIDI music.

His skill as an organ voicer has, rather strangely, gotten him relieved of a job for consistently making digital organs sound too much like pipe organs.

Having typed up the grade school newspaper on mimeograph sheets, putting words and music on paper have come naturally to him, resulting in him authoring beginner’s guides to Gregorian chant, a series of Catholic choirbooks and guides to playing Roland & Rodgers church organs.

Most recently he’s penned guides to playing silent films and performed in public as a silent film organist, released an innovative guide to learning to play the organ in a rather backwards manner that produces very effective results, and is seeking funding to introducing teaching church organ skills in the schools for the blind across the US.

He’s worked and studied under great musicians including bass-baritone and stage director Norman Foster, Sir William Walton and Vance George.
