Noel David Nicolaus

Born near the danish-german border from bavarian parents, I grew up in Italy and currently live in Berlin.
Add a french name and you will understand why I don't believe in borders or pre-given definitions!

I'm currently enrolled as a PhD student at the Institut für Europäische Ethnologie of the Humboldt University in Berlin. My research is focusing on Urban and European forms of Citizenship in the context of the ongoing economic crisis.

I believe that understanding cities is a fundamental key to master many of the challenges we are facing on a global scale. This is why I'm personally engaged as a local activist, and why I have a strong interest in all issues related to the urban world in a broader sense, a passion I try to share through my activities as a blogger and writer on various platforms.
