NOIR artist
Liège, Belgium
"It doesn’t matter if you look at magazines, advertisings, movies or classic drawings: Noir searches the one who catches his attention. Out of a pool of hundreds, only ten pictures are chosen. Nearly every picture is redesigned, redressed, cut into pieces and deformed. Step by step the pictures are formed to one unique artwork: Anarchistic and surrealistic constructions, combined with mystic and religious expressions, appear with Pin-ups and other characters of our consumer society. The spectator might get lost. He has no chance to rest his eyes. That’s probably where the artist wants to take us: The oversaturation is a mirror of our era.
He doesn’t use gray or white, that’s why his pseudonym is Noir ('Black' in french). Why aren’t there any colors? “Colors are not important. The contrast between black and white is the highest form of purity.” Working with black tend to capture the viewer's attention and let no one indifferent.
There is something which is distracting and appealing at the same time: the emptiness, the infinity, the space.
Sometimes it is vice versa and white is the dominating color. By using large scale backgrounds, he creates an involving atmosphere, which invites the spectator to be part of the artwork."
