Nolan Nichols

I am currently a recent graduate of Virginia Tech, majoring in Communication (Broadcast Journalism) with minor focuses in Marketing, Hospitality & Tourism ,and American History. During my time in college, I have been blessed with great opportunities with hands-on experiences.

Since March 2011, I have held an internship position at the Virginia Tech Athletic Video Department. This position has given me extensive experience with a wide variety of video and studio production experience. I have produced athletic event commercials to be aired on Comcast SportsNet and local television channels. Also, I have produced videos for stadium videoboards in Lane Stadium and Cassel Coliseum. In addition, I film every Virginia Tech Football practice and have worked every home football game, some away games, and each of the bowl games for the past 3 years.

Beginning in December 2010, I have been the webmaster and an administrative assistant at Racey Engineering, PLLC. This position has given me great skills for working in a business environment, and increased knowledge in marketing methods.

In the summers of 2012 and 2013, I was the Social Media Coordinator Intern at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park - Camp & Resort in Luray, Virginia. Through this internship, I was put in charge of mantaining the social media sites, and I was the producer and host of an online TV show, which took place throughout the park every week. In previous summers, I had worked at this vacation resort as a member of the activities staff, which provided me great opportunities to interact with park guests.

In addition to my work and internship experiences, I have learned a lot of skills within the classroom as well. Virginia Tech has given me great learning instruction and opportunities to develop new skills and expand on existing ones.

I hope to continue my education by pursuing a graduate school education at Virginia Tech this fall and becoming a Graduate Assistant of the Virginia Tech Athletics Video Department. Going forward, I have high goals and big dreams.

I strongly believe in having a strong enthusiasm about life and a strong work ethic. My strong Faith in God is what makes sustains me and is a vital part of my life. I look forward to what opportunities lie ahead in my future as I try to become a better person each and every day.
