Nonye Ikegwuoha

A multi media artist, Nonye Ikegwuoha has exhibited his work in the United States and Africa. His career highlights include large solo shows at the Agora Gallery in New York City and both the German Cultural Centre and the Ikoyi Hotels, Lagos, Nigeria. One of Nonye Ikegwuoha’s key creative interests is the effect of diaspora on ancient African art.
Mr. Ikegwuoha is also a skilled architect who garnered honors for his work on the both public and private developments In Nigeria and China.. His interests in architecture are also extended to the impact of construction and development on the natural environment with particular focus on sustainability and preservation of non-human species. Others are his support for indigenous African cultural heritage in art and architecture. He is presently developing an Artist Residency and recreational development on 9 acres of land in Abuja, The Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria. This project is expected to be concluded in 2024 and will provide creative outlets and inspiration for artists, musicians, writers and other leisure experiences.
Although he remains actively engaged with the Lagos community, Nonye Ikegwuoha has considered Manhattan his home for over several years. In addition to painting and architecture, he enjoys poetry and music in a range of genres.
