Somewhere in Nigeria right now, someone is squeezing a bottle of Morning Fresh over a sink full of yesterday's jollof pot. I'm partly responsible for that. I've spent twelve years learning what makes people choose one thing over another - and these days, I use it to help them choose themselves.

I'm Chinonyerem "Nonye" Opara, a Seior Marketing Manager and Head of Category for Home Care at PZ Cussons Nigeria. My route here ran through Unilever Nigeria and Reckitt - twelve+ years of FMCG, which is to say twelve-plus years of tight deadlines, tighter budgets, difficult boardrooms, and the specific education you only get from building brands in one of the most demanding consumer markets in the world.

But somewhere along the way, I noticed something.

The brilliant people around me weren't stalling because they lacked talent. They were stalling because nobody told them the rules. Nobody explained how visibility actually works. How to have the salary conversation. How to survive the jump from doing the work to leading the people who do it.

So I started telling them.
