Jane Marsh

YYC

Jane Marsh is a blogging persona, the name I use when I blog at Nothing By The Book and Undogmatic Unschoolers, or tweet about parenting and homeschooling issues as @nothingbtbook, or share resources on those topics on Google+.

In an ideal world, I'd attach no labels at all to myself, and just be me, but labels do help people find you, so variations of these fit me more or less: attachment parent, unschooler, feminist, humanist, absurdist, foodist. I write about respectful parenting, "discipline that doesn't divide," and, in "Those Conversations, howlingly funny stories from the parenting trenches. My three kids are now 11, 9 and 4 so my overall focus in the blogs is on "attachment parenting the older child" and the delight-driven learning adventures in the 3-12 year old age.

When I'm not travelling, I live and write in Calgary, Alberta, the loveliest, most energetic and most paradoxical city on this wondrous Earth.

My professional alter-ego, under my real name, Marzena Czarnecka, is a business writer with a very specialized niche. I'm considered one of Canada's most senior and experienced legal affairs writers, with a particular focus on the business of law and complex corporate sagas. I've had my by-line in virtually every leading Canadian business publication, including the financial sections of both of its national newspapers. See calgarybusinesswriter.com for details.

I'm reinventing and stretching myself a bit these days, stepping away from writing about law and business to script-writing and video production as a consultant for Falstaff Productions. In this persona, I tweet as @paddleink (although, frankly, I haven't cracked the code of the Twitterati yet), and do the bulk of my social networking on LinkedIn.
