Teacher and Library Media Specialist in Maryland
Currently, I am a Library Media Specialist for Baltimore County Public Schools in Maryland. Being a Library Media Specialist has allowed me to blend my love of reading and technology. I have been in education for the past 15 years. I began my teaching career with Baltimore City Public School Systems in 1999. I taught fourth and fifth graders for several years. Then, I volunteered as a GED instructor for 3 years for the Church of the Redeemed of the Lord in Baltimore, Maryland. I returned to public education in 2009 substituting in Baltimore County Public Schools. Subsequently, I accepted a full-time position as a fifth-grade reading teacher.
I am a native New Yorker (Bronx). I am married to my husband Rudy and we have three handsome sons. I received my Bachelor's degree from Alabama State University in Elementary Education. I worked for the university as the Coordinator for Intramural Sports from 1997 - 1999. I moved to Maryland in 1999 to pursue a career in Elementary Education. In 2014, I acquired my Master of Science in Education: Administration and Supervision from Morgan State University in Leadership and Supervision along with my Administration and Supervision certificate. Presently, I am a student at Towson University studying Instructional Technology with a concentration in Library Media.
My favorite quote is “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” by Nelson Mandela. I love this quote because it speaks to the power of education. Education creates critical and innovative thinkers. It is my goal to empower every student to succeed.
