Novlik Nisudan
Music Producer and DJ in Hyderabad, India
Thanks for taking out time to know a bit about me. While you may have come across news articles/online bios, this is the unfiltered summary!
My musical journey began at age 10 with Hindustani Classical vocals & harmonium, though it wasn't until 2009, while training at ITC Hotels, that I discovered my true passion: psy-trance, at a gathering in Pebble, Bangalore.
I spent 9 years under contract with ITC Hotels, a commitment made before I turned 18, primarily to gain financial independence. This allowed me to fund my burgeoning interest in DJing, seizing opportunities to learn at Dublin, ITC Kakatiya.
In 2013, I humorously promised a cop at his daughter's 14th birthday party, held at the same hotel as the first Hyderabad psy-trance gathering, that his daughter would someday love the music he then was attempting to ban. Years later, after studying DJing & music production in the UK, I returned to Hyderabad to champion psy-trance. By 2019, I curated plans & played a role in introducing artists like Shanti People, Sajanka, & Mandragora, & hosting established names like Infected Mushroom & Vini Vici in Hyderabad, making it a key stop on India tours for many artists.
My DJ career's peak was interrupted by COVID-19. Though the pandemic allowed me to delve into music production, it broke my DJing momentum. To cover costs, I took on managing the Ukrainian act Shanti People in 2021. Our collaboration, "Ravanasura Anthem," marked the first psy-trance track in a mainstream Indian film. Unfortunately, our professional relationship eventually soured.
In 2022, after my work with Shanti People concluded, I was among several artists summoned by cops in Hyderabad concerning underground electronic music parties, but I was cleared of any wrongdoing. The same officer from 2013 was present; he faintly recalled our past exchange & smilingly admitted his daughter now enjoyed psy-trance, validating my playful promise.
Despite persistent claims from cops in Hyderabad that electronic music & nightlife promote drugs—a logic I find flawed—I believe psy-trance aligns perfectly with fitness, because that’s how it is for me. As a psy-trance producer & natural fitness enthusiast, I aim to foster this connection. Having introduced 30+ young DJs, organized 200+ events, & participated in over 500, I now perform weekly in Hyderabad, promoting my music with a hint of association with fitness, & I hope my music earns me your support!
