Nathan Scruton was born in North Bay, Ontario in 1997 to a family of six. Son of Howie and Janice Scruton. In 1999 the Scruton family moved to Sudbury, Ontario. Growing up in Northern Ontario, Nathan was involved in many different teams and clubs, primarily hockey. Hockey runs deep in the Scruton family as his father, Howie played in the NHL. Nathan always wanted to follow his father’s footsteps and play professional hockey, however he soon realized he had different passions in life he wanted to pursue. Nathan began playing football and performing in musicals at his high school St. Charles. This led to Nathan joining, acting in and later working for a local professional theatre company, YES Theatre.

Throughout high school, Nathan’s passion for teaching was apparent. Nathan realized he could take all his passions and put them into one professional career, being a teacher. This sparked the idea of Nathan taking Sports and Physical Education with Concurrent Education at Laurentian University. Nathan’s teaching classification will be Junior-Intermediate with hopes to obtain his Senior Qualifications and specializations in Special Education, Drama and History. Nathan will be graduating with his Bachelor of Human Kinetics in May of 2020 and will be attending one year of Teacher’s College in the Fall at Laurentian University. Nathan hopes to begin and end his career as a teacher in Sudbury.
