Nick Stringer
technology, Public Policy, and regulatory affairs in the United Kingdom
Hey, I’m Nick.
I am a public policy, regulatory affairs and communications specialist with a dynamic 30-year track record gained with a leading mobile and broadband provider, specialised consultancies, and influential trade bodies globally. I'm also a strategic leader adept at fostering key industry relationships, armed with an in-depth knowledge of the digital media, advertising, and technology sectors.
As ex-VP of Global Engagement & Operations at the Trustworthy Accountability Group (TAG) - a cross-industry self-regulatory body setting standards to tackle criminal activity like fraud, piracy, and malware in digital advertising - I led the global development, while championing brand safety in digital advertising. I was also CEO at Flux Digital Policy, MD of Mobile Games Intelligence (MGI), and Director of Regulatory Affairs at the Internet Advertising Bureau UK (IAB UK). In particular, I established the IAB UK as a credible and authoritative digital advertising 'voice' with policy makers and regulators, leading the advocacy on legislative initiatives, such as the ePrivacy Directive and EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as well as spearheading industry self-regulatory initiatives.
I have travelled to all corners of the world, cultivating strategic partnerships and evangelising the need for brand safety and global self-regulation. I also write about digital policy issues, some of the societal challenges innovation throws up. and how public policy might resolve them - see ‘ByteWise Insights’ and via any of my social channels.
On a personal level, I am a fan of technology, running, and (real) football (avid Liverpool FC supporter! #YNWA). I am also interested in politics and music. I live in Kent (the 'Garden of England') in the UK with my family.
"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."
