Nancy Schneider-Wilson

As a professor dedicated to the rigors of the field, I hope to inspire students to discover, discuss, understand, and appreciate ideas. My classroom presents a balance between the practical nature of the profession and the creative aesthetic voice.

Participation in critical analysis, research, advanced education and ethical practices are essential. Graduates from the Graphic Design program have gone on to contribute sustainable success in many facets of our field including advertising, web design, packaging, art direction and graphic design.

Our role is not to just arrange words and images on a page to please a client for profit, but to consider their economic, social, political, cultural and creative contexts. I try to develop a community of students within our program that shares information and will positively impact their contributions to business and society.

The JCCC Graphic Design Career Program prepares a diverse student body for professional design and advertising careers, emphasizing global views, independent thinking, and theory based learning.

Recognized as a premier graphic design program, JCCC provides a superior education through a dedicated and talented staff, state-of-the-art facilities, and support from the design and advertising community.

Students will be encouraged to engage in reflective critique, take risks, and develop innovative strategies for meeting clients’ needs. This will be cultivated through technical and formal mastery as well as sound practices.

The coursework typically parallels professional practice and reflects current trends. Students will develop their creative process through deliberate practice for inspiring work with the potential to contribute to the field.

The JCCC Graphic Design program is a respectful educational environment and is dedicated to community. The program will instill core values, ideologies and design ethics to encourage its’ graduates to “give back” to the community.
