Ntsundeni Louis Mapatagane, a seasoned professional in Strategic and Institutional Planning, Environmental Sciences, and Institutional Research, currently serves as the Director of Planning and Institutional Intelligence at Walter Sisulu University (WSU). His responsibilities include overseeing enrolment planning, strategy execution, and institutional research. Previously, Louis was the Director of Institutional Planning at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and managed Strategic Analytics and Business Intelligence at the University of Zululand (UNIZULU), where he pioneered the integration of a business intelligence system.
Louis holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences and is pursuing a PhD, focusing on the readiness of higher education institutions for energy efficiency and emissions reduction. His work aims to advance sustainability and energy efficiency in academia, shaping future infrastructure planning and promoting energy conservation awareness.
Additionally, Louis has served two terms as an Executive Member of the Southern African Association for Institutional Research (SAAIR) and is a member of the National Committee of the Committee on Data for Science (CODATA) of the International Science Council (ISC), where he also co-chairs CODATA Connect. A Certified Ethics Officer, Louis holds various certificates in project management, data management, and business administration, underscoring his comprehensive expertise in managing both organizational and data-driven challenges in higher education.
