A lauded sense of uncontested belonging to a country/language remains elusive, though I admit to have given up on fulfilling the futile endeavour of locating myself within a geographical or linguistic framework. Why can’t I just be me, I often wonder. There never was a barometer for these kinds of things, so why agonise over it now? !
